A portion of a CVG interview with chief game designer Stephen Hood...
CVG: How far along are the 3DS and Vita versions?
SH: Very advanced. I played it a few weeks ago and I was quite surprised that they've already got a lot of the tracks that we're still working on up and running, the HUD and various elements are already similar. Some times I look at that and go, 'aren't you supposed to be following what we're doing?' They're slightly ahead in some areas in comparison to us because they already had the tech from doing that 2009 F1 game.
CVG: What can you tell us about the differences between the home and handheld versions?
SH: I think the key thing is they're having to take our concepts and distil them down further. Say for example if it's competition with your teammate, or unlocking things for the cars... where as ours might be a long practice session they're trying to distil that down. So you've got the same concept of winning something for the car but a lot quicker and built around shorter races, which is completely understandable but the flavour of the games is completely the same.
